The future role of national central banks in the Eurosystem

Abstract

This contribution describes some changes in European central banks after the start of the European monetary union. It explains how staffs at the national central banks cooperate with the staff at the European Central Bank. Furthermore, a few issues are discussed which relate to the organization of banking supervision in Europe.
