Activation in homogeneous catalysis

  • Published:
Theoretical and Experimental Chemistry Aims and scope

Abstract

The topic is discussed in relation to the definition of activators, which are classified in accordance with their mode of action; particular attention is given to orienting and polarizing effects, activated electron transfer, formation of intermediate compounds, and displacement of equilibria in intermediate stages. Criteria are proposed for assigning activators to these four groups.
