Abstract

We present the theory and first measurements concerning a quasi-optical polarization rotator capable of operating over a broad frequency band.

It consists of a wire-grid polarizer and a plane mirror with quarter-wave spacing. It permits a single fixed receiver to analyse alternatively two orthogonal components of a signal. Its ease of realisation and use makes it appear as an attractive device in the millimeter and submillimeter region.
