Abstract

The paper offers a proposal for liver tissue sampling in hepatic diseases. The contents of Zn, Fe and Sb were selectively determined in, hepatocytes, regenerative nodes, fibrous tissue, carcinomatous foci and metastatic nodes. The results obtained indicated decrease of Zn and Fe contents in fibrous and malignant tissue and their increase in regenerative nodes, as compared to the values observed in hepatocytes of the same liver. Sb did not completely follow the pattern of Zn and Fe. Accordingly, each of the pathological structures was shown to have “its content” of trace elements differing from that in the neighbouring pathological tissue. For this reason, the representative sample must be a target type, taken from several points in liver and verified by histological findings.
