In ‘Global Cooling?’ [2], we used a two-sided t-test. Professor Donald Meyer, of the University of Arizona Department of Mathematics, has pointed out to us that a one-sided test would be more appropriate when one is asking whether or not an observed trend, e.g., a warming trend, is significant. The net effect of using a two-sided test is to make the results more conservative, e.g., 90% confidence level for the two-sided test becomes 95% for the one-sided test, etc. We have used the one-sided test for the trends discussed in this letter. A manuscript error was made on page 449 of ‘Global Cooling?’. The symbol s designates simply the standard deviation and not the standard deviation of the mean. The correct value of s was used in calculations.
