Abstract
Four carabid species,Anisodactylus santaecrucis, Bembidion quadrimaculatum oppositum, Pterostichus lucublandus andPterostichus melanarius, abundant in carrot fields in southwestern Quebec, were tested for predation against the carrot weevil,Listronotus oregonensis, on host plants. The largest species,Pterostichus melanarius, consumed the greatest number of carrot weevil larvae and pupae.Bembidion quadrimaculatum oppositum did not prey on carrot weevil eggs laid on carrot leaves.
