Additives as a factor in the thermal conductivity of beryllia

  • Published:
Refractories Aims and scope

Conclusions

Measurements were carried out of the thermal conductivity of beryllia alone and with 3 wt. % added Al2O3, SiO2, glass, ZrO2, and MgO. The maximum decrease in thermal conductivity occurs with magnesia, the minimum with alumina. Above 300–400°C the additives do not influence the thermal conductivity of BeO to a significant extent.
