Low temperature properties in Ce(Cu x Al1−x )5, [0.60≦x≦1.00]

Abstract

We report on the formation of a heavy fermion state in Ce(Cu x Al1−x )5, with 0.60≦x≦1.00. This state evolves upon the exchange of Cu by Al in the hexagonal CeCu5. Furthermore, this exchange causes a suppression of a common type of long range magnetic order. Both phenomena are driven by Kondo interaction.
