Abstract
The article by Professor D Bugg, September issue of Physics Bulletin (page 373), expresses a highly personal view in which he questions the effectiveness of using Cern as a facility for elementary particle physicists from British universities. This is a minority view as was demonstrated by the complete lack of support he received for these views at the Town Meeting of more than one hundred nuclear physicists at Bedford College last February.
