On the Sun's Interior. I.
Abstract
A revised model interior for the sun is calculated, with an improved value for the rate of energy generation through the proton-proton reaction. It is found that the observed values of the radius, mass, and luminosity may be obtained if one squeezes the helium content to zero. The composition parameters for this equilibrium model are X = 99.8 per cent, Z = 0.2 per cent. The central temperature of this model is 12,0O0,000 , while its density is 110. The upper limit for a possible convective core is 8 per cent of the radius. Such a core could not include more than 3 per cent of the mass, nor could more than 24 per cent of the total energy be generated there. The proton-proton reaction provides all the energy generation in this model.
