Abstract
The responses of two instruments, one of which uses a scintillation system, to surfaces uniformly contaminated with nuclides decaying by electron capture, were investigated. It is concluded that in order to be able to measure satisfactorily at the derived working limits (DWL), the best approach is to use DWLs calculated for individual isotopes.
