Abstract

The PET cyclotron can provide 10 MeV proton beams, the beam intensity for 50 eμA . H ion beams are accelerated to 10 MeV energy and then the proton beams are obtained by stripping. The control system includes several subsystems: data acquisition system, data processing system, data archiving system and machine protection system. On the hardware, the standard plugins of control modules, PLC and FPGA integrated circuits were used in data acquisition system. On the software, design patterns and modular design methods were applied. The control software based on the distributed control system structure was developed with Visual C++. The stability during beam commissioning verified reliability of the proposed control system. With the help of the control system, the ion source has successfully extracted the H ion beams with expectations of a dc of 1.5 mA @ 25 KeV extraction energy and 2000 W arc power.
