Estimate of a Toroidal, Magnetohydrodynamically Stable, High-β Dynamic Equilibrium

Abstract

A magnetohydrodynamically stable, toroidal, dynamic equilibrium for a high-β plasma can be obtained by superimposing an oscillating bumpy magnetic field upon a purely toroidal static main field.
