Abstract

We report on a search for charmless hadronic $B$ decays to the three-body final states $K_{S}^{0} h^{+} π^{-}$ , $K^{+} h^{-} π^{0}$ , $K_{S}^{0} h^{+} π^{0}$ ( $h^{\pm}$ denotes a charged pion or kaon), and their charge conjugates, using $13.5 {f b}^{- 1}$ of integrated luminosity produced near $\sqrt{s} = 10.6 G e V$ , and collected with the CLEO detector. We observe the decay $B \to K^{0} π^{+} π^{-}$ with a branching fraction $(50_{- 9}^{+ 10} (s t a t .) \pm 7 (s y s t .)) \times 10^{- 6}$ and the decay $B \to K^{* +} (892) π^{-}$ with a branching fraction $(16_{- 5}^{+ 6} (s t a t .) \pm 2 (s y s t .)) \times 10^{- 6}$ .
