Abstract

Self-consistent fields, both with and without exchange, have been calculated for doubly ionized magnesium in the normal state. All of the equations have been solved numerically with the aid of an electrical calculating machine. The Z0 functions have been tabulated along with the corresponding P functions in each case. The former functions do not differ by more than ±0.003, at any point, in the two last stages of the work. The diamagnetic susceptibility has been calculated, yielding the value: -3.74×106.
