Oxygen isotopic measurements were carried out at the University of Tuebingen, using splits of the whole-rock powders analyzed for Sr. Oxygen was extracted using the bromine pentafluoride procedure (Clayton and Mayeda, 1963; doi:10.1016/0016-7037(63)90071-1). Oxygen isotopic compositions are reported using normal delta-notation relative to SMOW (Standard Mean Ocean Water). The oxygen isotopic compositions of the carbonate component of pelagic oozes are reported relative to the SMOW and PDB standards, respectively. Routine reproducibility of delta 18O values is typically 0.15‰.
