Pyridine-2,6-dimethanol, C7H9NO2, forms a chain structure in which the molecules are linked by O—HO hydrogen bonds into dimeric units lying across centres of inversion, these dimers being linked by O—HN hydrogen bonds into chains around other centres of inversion. In the structure of benzene-1,3,5-trimethanol, C9H12O3, the molecules form a continuous three-dimensional network in which each molecule is hydrogen-bonded to six others.
