Summary
An extraction-spectrophotometric method for the determination of rhenium as ion-association complex with the tetrazolium salts MTT, INT and NTC has been developed. Molybdenum in concentrations exceeding many times those of rhenium does not interfere. This fact is used for their separation.
The method is employed for molybdenum concentrate and is notable for its simplicity of performance, high selectivity and good reproducibility. At statistical certainty 95%, the relative standard deviation for the methods with MTT is 3.7%, with INT 6.2% and NTC 5.8%, respectively.
