Limitations of the Phan-Thien non-linear network viscoelastic model

Abstract

The failure of the Phan-Thien non-linear network viscoelastic model to predict realistic stress-strain relationships under certain conditions is illustrated in two examples. Care in the application of the model when applied in situations where high shear rates are expected is indicated.
