Conclusion
Optimal use of fluorescent metal screens in traditional roentgenography on X-ray films significantly reduces exposure time. Development with amplification based on enhancement of dispersion of silver grains allows reduction of exposure time without damage to image quality, but time of chemical photographic processing increases.
Application of electroroentgenography and also low-silver radiographic paper substantially decreases consumption of silver and reduces the cycle time of picture taking. The quality of the resulting pictures permits replacement of X-ray films for some purposes of medical diagnosis.
Diffusion photographic kits have higher X-ray sensitivity than electroradiographic plates and radiographic paper. The resolving power of diffusion photographic kits is comparable to that of X-ray films combined with luminescent amplifying screens. However, photographic kits with diffusion image transfer provide worse image contrast and have lower optical density than X-ray films.
The use of diffusion photographic kits is quite promising for rapid medical diagnosis. It saves time and labor and substantially reduces silver consumption (and, therefore, the cost of roentgenography) as compared to the use of X-ray films, without noticeable loss of medical information.
