Abstract
The evaporation of atoms from metal clusters following photon absorption has been investigated by comparing the predictions of the statistical Weisskopf approach with the one of macroscopic kinetic theory. The consequences on the evaporation rate due to finite size effects in the separation energy and to the initial temperature of the cluster are also discussed.
