Abstract
IF N,u,η are the refractive index, the paraxial angle, and the size of object respectively, and dashes denote these quantities in the image space, then the magnification formula, is valid for limiting by small values of η only, with the same condition applying to the invariance of the quantity Nuη throughout the system. It is, however, possible to derive a similar expression which is valid for finite object sizes.
