X-ray study of tetragonal PbO electrolytically deposited on rolled Pb substrate

Observations of preferred orientation in the rolled Pb substrate and in the anodically deposited tetragonal PbO of a Pb/PbO(t) voltaic cell, by X-ray diffraction, are reported. A Pb → PbO(t) transformation mechanism is described for the orientation relationship, (110)_PbO(t)(100)_Pb.
