Abstract

The addition of B2O3 to a Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst increased the activity of the catalyst for methanol synthesis after an induction period during the reaction. The stability of the B2O3-containing Cu/ZnO/Al2O3 catalyst was greatly improved by the addition of a small amount of colloidal silica to the catalyst.
