Abstract
The fertility of plants from wheat anther culture was studied. It was found that one half of the 36 plants with diploid root tips didn't set seeds at all, and that 41 of the 42 plants with haploid root tips were completely sterile. It was surprising that sterility was so widely distributed even among the plants with diploid root tips.
