Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Division of chemical science Aims and scope

Summary

  1. 1.

An investigation was made of the conditions required for the copolymerization of trimethyl- and diethylmethyl-(3-vinyl oxypropyl)silanes with methyl methacrylate, and the corresponding copolymers were prepared.

  2. 2.

The yields and composition of the copolymers depend on the concentration of the vinyl ethers containing γ-silicon and on the methyl methacrylate.

  3. 3.

Silicon-containing vinyl ethers do not polymerize in presence of such free-radical initiators as 2,2′-azobis[2-methylpropionitrile] and benzoyl peroxide.
