The causal boundary of space-times

Abstract

A definition of a causal boundary\(\dot V\) is given by assigning a future and a past endpoint to any non-extensible timelike or null line. A topology and a partial ordering can be introduced on\(\bar V: = \dot V \cup V\). The usual conditions for the causal structure can be formulated as properties of\(\dot V\). This boundary is compared with other types of boundaries.
