    Notes: During the technical important combustion of SiCl4 with oxygen [SiCl4(g) + O2(g) = SiO2(s) + 2·Cl2(g)] many intermediates have been detected in the past. However, the presence of the primary species O=SiCl2 has been discussed controversially until today. With the help of matrix isolation technique we have now been successful to monitor O=SiCl2 via its IR spectrum. With the help of quantum chemical calculations the thermodynamic data have been calculated first. On this basis it was possible to find the optimal conditions to trap OSiCl2 from the high-temperature equilibrium. Furthermore it could be shown via IR spectroscopy and quantum chemical calculations, that the radical OSiCl does not play a significant role within this combustion process.

    Description / Table of Contents: TeCl4 as a Transport Agent. TeOCl2.g and the Chemical Transport of TeO2 and Te6O11Cl2Mass spectroscopic observations show that in the system TeO2/TeClx the gas molecule TeOCl2 is an important constituent of the gas phase.Thermal decomposition of Te6O11Cl2, made on the thermobalance and also mass spectroscopic measurements lead to the enthalpy of formation of TeOCl2,g; ΔH°(298) = -42 ± 3 kcal.The chemical transport of TeO2 (or Te6O11Cl2) has been successful by means of Cl2, TeCl4 or TeCl2 as transport agents via TeOCl2.Thermodynamic calculations show that the suitability of TeCl4 as transport agent for many oxides, even in different oxidation states, is caused by the fact that this transport agent, dependent upon the solid acts as TeCl4 (TeCl2 + Cl2) or TeCl2. The redoxpotential required by the solid can be adapted by the gas without a loss of the transport properties of the gas phase.
    Notes: Massenspektroskopische Beobachtungen zeigen, daß TeOCl2,g im System TeO2/TeClx als wesentlicher Bestandteil des Gleichgewichtsgases auftritt.Die thermische Zerlegung von Te6O11Cl2 an der Thermowaage und die massenspektroskopischen Beobachtungen führen zur Bildungsenthalpie für TeOCl2,g; ΔH° (298) = -42 ± 3 kcal.Der chemische Transport von TeO2 (bzw. Te6O11Cl2) via TeOCl2 gelingt mit Cl2, TeCl4 oder TeCl2 als Transportmittel.Thermodynamische Rechnungen ergeben, daß die Eignung von TeCl4 als Transportmittel für viele Oxide,  -  auch in verschiedenen Oxydationsstufen  -  darauf beruht, daß dieses Transportmittel je nach Partner als TeCl4 bzw. TeCl2 + Cl2 oder als TeCl2 wirksam wird. Das vom Bodenkörper geforderte Redoxpotential kann sich also in einem weiten Bereich einstellen, ohne daß das Gas seine Transporteigenschaften verliert.

    Description / Table of Contents: The Gas Molecules Al4OCl10 (or Al3OCl7) and Al3CrOCl10Investigating the reaction of Sb2O3 with Al2Cl6,g by mass spectroscopy the ions (Al4OCl9+), Al3OCl7+ and Al2OCl3+ in low concentrations have been observed, indicating a parent molecule Al4OCl10. In systems containing CrCl2 the ion Al3CrOCl9+ (from Al3CrOCl10) appears. The structure of M4OCl10 may be similar to Be4O(CH3COO)6.
    Notes: Bei Reaktion von Sb2O3 mit Al2Cl6,g wurden massenspektroskopisch die auf Al4OCl10 zurückgeführten Ionen (Al4OCl9+), Al3OCl6+ und Al2OCl3+ in niedrigen Konzentrationen beobachtet. Mit CrCl2-haltigen Systemen tritt Al3CrOCl9+ auf, das auf die Muttermolekel Al3CrOCl10 zurückgeht. Die Struktur von M4OCl10 dürfte der von Be4O(CH3COO)6 ähnlich sein, also tetraedrisch von M umgebenen Sauerstoff enthalten.

    Description / Table of Contents: CuAl2Cl8. Preparation and Crystal Structure.Crystals of CuAl2Cl8 have been prepared. Their remission spectrum agrees with that of gaseous CuAl2Cl8. The crystal structure (P21/c;a = 6.614, b = 7.376, c = 12.319 Å; β = 94.11°) shows a molecular lattice with Cu in square planar coordination, which is completed to a stretched octahedron (as in solid CuCl2) by two Cl atoms from neighbour molecules. Al has tetrahedral coordination.
    Notes: Kristalle von CuAl2Cl8 wurden hergestellt. Ihr Remissionsspektrum entspricht dem von gasförmigem CuAl2Cl8. Die Kristallstruktur der Verbindung (Raumgruppe P21/c) führt mit den Gitterkonstanten a = 6,614, b = 7,376, c = 12,319 Å; β = 94.11° zu einem Molekelgitter mit quadratisch planar von Cl umgebenem Cu. Durch Cl von Nachbarmolekeln wird die Cu-Koordination (wie im festen CuCl2)zu einem langgestreckten Oktaeder ergänzt. Al ist tetraedrisch von Cl umgeben.
