Notes:
Several sulfanilamide-type compounds in their solid state have been investigated by the 14N nuclear quadrupole resonance (NQR) technique. The electron distributions at the sites of the nitrogen atoms, calculated by the Townes and Dailey theory, indicate a significant correlation between the quadrupole coupling constant for the primary amino nitrogen (N4), which is a measure of the (π-σ) electron density at N4, and the in vitro bacteriostatic activity of the sulfanilamides.
