Conclusions 1. The use of samples with a tubular element of small outer diameter and small length (in comparison with the sample dimensions) and also of simple devices preventing the appearing in the element of the sample of axial tensile stresses in shortening of it as a result of significant twisting makes it possible to obtain an equilibrium diagram in torsion in the case of the soft method of loading without additional precautions (such as a very low rate of loading, preventive unloading, etc.). 2. Full equilibrium diagrams in tension and torsion (pure shear) are qualitatively different in the falling portions and therefore it is impossible, having only one of them, to calculate the other for this portion as is possible, e.g., within the limits of elastic deformations. 3. With the use of the functions of resistance it must be taken into consideration that they are obtained in the presence of stress concentrators in the elements of the samples.
