Description: The aim of the present study was to estimate the population parameters including length-weight relationship (LWR), condition factor (KF), relation condition factor (Kn), age, growth and mortality of Alburnus mossulensis in Azad dam and Komasi River in Kordestan Province, Iran. Of 522 specimens, the fork length, total length and weight of A. mossulensis ranged from 70 to 164, 75-175 mm, and 4.3 to 48.1 g and averaged (±SD) 114.0 (±15.97), 127.5 (±25.29) mm and 18.2 (±5.61) g, respectively. The length-weight regression was W=0.0003×FL2.7434 indicating a negative allometric growth. The sex ratio (M:F) was 1:0.49, for adult A. mossulensis (n=134) which differed significantly from the expected 1:1 ratio (p〈0.001). The von Bertalanffy growth parameters were estimated as L∞=170.3 mm, K=0.46 yr-1, t0=-0.59 yr. The instantaneous coefficient of natural mortality was estimated as 0.85 yr-1. The average of condition factor (KF) was 1.27(±0.161). Statistically significant differences were found in KF during different seasons (p〈0.001). There was a significantly negative correlation between FL and KF (r2=0.60). The average of relative condition factor (Kn) was 1.06±(0.130). In the present study, the Kn of A. mossulensis were close to 1 and greater than 1 in Komasi River and reservoir, respectively. These results suggested the well-being of the fish was good in Azad Dam region.

Description: This study was conducted to determination length and age composition, growth and mortality parameters and estimate biomass of Kutum in the Iranian coastal waters of the Caspian Sea from 2017 to 2018. The biometrics data were collected from the fishing cooperatives in the Guilan, Mazandaran and Golestan provinces. The mean (± SD) of fork length and total weight were obtained 37.4±6.9 cm and 729.8±418.4 gr respectively. The range of age was from 2 to 11 year and fish with 3 to 4 years comprised up to 73.4 percent. The mean (± SD) of fork length for 3 and 4 age groups were 33.8±5.8 and 39.0±6.2 cm respectively. In length – weight relationship a, b and r2 were calculated 0.012, 2.99 and 0.96. K value, L∞ and t0 were calculated 0.21 (/year), 61.4 cm and -0.54 respectively. Mortality parameters such as Z, M and F were calculated 0.76, 0.36 and 0.36 respectively. The biomass of kutum estimated 27437.7 tons.

Description: The objective of the present study was classification of beach seine based on catch during the years 2009-2012. In the present study the catch of 123 beach seine in three provinces; Guilan, Mazandaran and Golestan, for each effort and species (Rutilus frisii kutum, Liza spp., Cyprinus carpio, Rutilus rutilus, Vimba vimba, Chalcalburnus chalcoides, Shads, Aspius aspius, Barbus sp, Abramis brama, Stizostedion lucioperca, Salmo trutta caspius, Esox lucius and Silurus glani) were used as input data. According to the results, among catch of 14 species/groups, kutum represented the highest proportion of total catch at 66.24%, followed by mullet, carp and shads with 27.42.81, 1.31 and 4.26% of total catch. Applying complete linkage, a hierarchical cluster analysis, the 123 beach seines were grouped into 3 individual clusters. First cluster was included 8 and second and third clusters were included 25 and 90 beach seines, respectively. Third cluster had lowest catch and these beach seines located in east and west coastline of Iranian water of the Caspian Sea.

Description: Caspian Kutum (Rutilus frisii kutum, Kamensky 1901) is among the main commercial species in the Caspian Sea. The present study aimed to determine the spatial and temporal distribution patterns of Kutum in depth ranges of 10 to 100 m by bottom trawl net in Iranian waters of the Caspian Sea during 2008 to 2010. The results showed that the maximum catch and CPUE were 2903 kg and 57.08 kg/0.5 h in winter 2009. The minimum catch and CPUE were 79 kg and 1.41 kg/0.5 h in spring 2010. During the warm seasons (spring and summer) most Kutums occurred in depths less than 20 m. While, during cold seasons they occurred at all depths. The average (±SE) CPUE was 94.0 ± 78.53 kg/0.5 h in depths 20-50 m in autumn and 128.3 ± 77.64 kg/0.5 h in depths 〉50 m in winter.
