Description / Table of Contents: Impact of Internet of Things on Food Supply Chains -- An Agent-Based Approach to Evaluate Freight Consolidation Center Strategy for Last Mile Deliveries in Jaipur City, India -- A Proposed Framework for Designing Blockchain Solutions for Logistics in Post-Covid Scenario and Future Pandemics -- Application of Big Data Analytics in Modern Logistics Solutions -- Case Study Validation of a Predictive Maintenance Implementation Framework.
Abstract: The application of artificial intelligence methods and the increasing digitalization of the processes in a supply chain contribute the more seamless flow of materials and information. The disturbances in global supply chain during pandemic put pressure on companies to improve the existing operations. The Sustainable Development Goals put pressure on local and global markets to reduce carbon dioxide emissions and to implement a more resource-efficient business model. Integration of physical and cyber systems is necessary to achieve more environmentally friendly, efficient logistics and supply chain operations. This book presents the contemporary issues of sustainability and integration of physical and information flow in supply chain. In the individual chapters, the authors discuss new qualitative and qualitative theoretic methods, models and present case studies from business practice. This book might be a valuable source of knowledge for the academics, PhD students and practitioners to deepen their knowledge in the field of logistics and SCM.

Keywords: Sustainability. ; Business logistics. ; Application software. ; Industrial Management. ; Environmental engineering. ; Biotechnology. ; Bioremediation. ; Sustainability. ; Supply Chain Management. ; Computer and Information Systems Applications. ; Industrial Management. ; Environmental Engineering/Biotechnology.
Abstract: This book provides a framework for integrating information management in supply chains. Current trends in business practice have made it necessary to explore the potential held by information integration with regard to environmental aspects. Information flow integration provides an opportunity to focus on the creation of a more “green” supply chain. However, it is currently difficult to identify the impact of information integration on greening a supply chain in a wide range of practical applications. Accordingly, this book focuses on the potential value of information integration solutions in terms of greening supply chain management. It covers the following major topics: Application of information flow standards in the supply chain Information systems and technological solutions for integrating information flows in supply chains The Internet of Things and the industry 4.0 concept, with regard to the integration of supply chains Modeling and simulation of logistics processes Decision-making tools enabling the greening of supply chains.

Description / Table of Contents: Smart Contracts in the Context of Procure-to-Pay -- Out-of-home delivery as a solution of the last mile problem in e-commerce -- Evaluation and Control of a Collaborative Automated Picking System -- Integrating RFID Signal with Scene for Automatic Identification in Logistics and Production -- Logic for Management of Vehicles at Warehouse.
Abstract: This book discusses the critical contemporary issues of sustainability and integration of physical and information flow. It explores the digitalization of logistics processes and the need for a more integrated and a seamless cooperation in supply chain management, which are dominant trends in business practice. Moreover, it examines how the pressure for CO2 emission reductions and more resource- efficient business models influences the organization of logistics operations on both a local and global scale, demonstrating that integrating physical and cyber systems is necessary to achieve a more environmentally friendly, safe logistics and supply chain operations. In the individual chapters, the authors discuss the new qualitative and quantitative theoretical methods and models and also analyze case studies from business practice. This book provides valuable insights for academics, Ph.D. students and practitioners wishing to deepen their understanding of logistics operations and management.

Description / Table of Contents: Geological techniques are widely used in two aspects of serious criminal investigations: (1) the search for clandestine burial sites, based on near-surface geophysics or through the detection of decomposition signals and (2) the analysis of trace evidence to identify its source location or test the possible association between the trace evidence and a known location of an offence. Although geoforensics is used in such investigations world-wide there are still considerable gaps in the published literature. In addition, there is increasing concern regarding the illegal release of wastes either into the atmosphere, water courses or on to the land surface, and a growing realization that the techniques used in criminal forensics are equally useful in the investigation of environmental crime. This book bridges the gap between environmental and criminal geoforensics with conceptual, methodological and case study contributions. This demonstrates the significant potential that geoforensics holds for investigating and regulatory officers.
