    Description / Table of Contents: Riassunto L'ampiezza delle onde magnetoelastiche,A, è stata misurata in funzione della temperatura eseguendo cicli termici nel Metglas 2826. Raggiunta la temperatura di Curie,T C l'ampiezzaA si annulla a causa della transizione dell'accoppiamento magnetoelastico nello stato paramagnetico. Ciò ci mette in grado di misurare la temperaturaT C; quest'ultima aumenta in seguito ai ripetuti trattamenti termici mentre l'anisotropia magneticaK u diminuisce. Anche l'ampiezzaA, misurata a temperatura ambiente dopo i trattamenti termici, mostra un andamento crescente. I valori diK u,T c eA tendono alla saturazione dopo lo stesso numero di cicli termici; ciò suggerisce che il rilassamento strutturale prodotto dalla ricottura è il meccanismo microscopico che regola le tre grandezze fisiche menzionate. In particolare noi mostriamo cheK u eA sono legati dalla magnetostrizione longitudinale.
    Abstract: Резюме Измеряется зависимость амплитуды магнитноупругой волны,A, от температуры в течение температурных циклов в металлическом стекле 2826. При достижении температуры Кюри,T c, величинаA обращается в нуль из-за уменьшения магнитноупругой связи в парамагнитном состоянии. Это позволяет оценить темпаратуру Кюри,T c. Температура Кюри увеличивается после повторных температурных обработок, тогда как магнитная анизотропияK u уменьшается. Также отмечается увеличение амплитудыA, измеренной при комнатной температуре после последовательных температурных обработок. ВеличиныK u,T c иA приближаются к насьщению после одинакового числа температурных циклов. Это результат предполагает, что структурная релаксация, обусловленная отжигом, представляет микроскопический механизм, определяющий все три физические величины. В частности, мы объсняем связь междуK u иA с помощью продольной магнитострикции.
    Notes: Summary Magnetoelastic wave amplitude, a, was measuredvs. the temperature during thermal cycles in Metglas 2826. When the Curie temperature,T C, has been reached, theA value vanishes due to the fall of the magnetoelastic coupling in the paramagnetic state. This allows evaluation of theT c temperature. The latter increases after the iterated thermal treatments while the magnetic anisotropyK u decreases. Also theA amplitude, measured at room temperature after the subsequent thermal treatments, shows an increasing behaviour. The values ofK u ,T c andA approach saturation after the same number of thermal cycles; this suggests that the structural relaxation produced by annealing is the microscopic mechanism governing all the three physical quantities. In particular we explain the connection betweenK u andA by means of the longitudinal magnetostriction.

    Notes: Summary The role of magnetoelastic energy to determine the causes which affect the magnetic anisotropy are reviewed. The simple model used to describe magnetostriction in the new nanostructured materials is reported. Starting from this model the magnetostriction in multilayer samples, of the kind magnetic material/non-magnetic material, is discussed. In particular the fundamental influence of the interlayers is shown. Finally it is demonstrated that by measurement of saturation magnetostriction it is possible to have information on the interlayers thickness and average composition.

    Notes: Summary The effects of heat treatments in vacuum on magnetic permeability, Young's modulus and magnetoelastic wave amplitude were investigated in the amorphous ferromagnetic alloys Fe73.5Cu1Ta3Si15.5B7 and Fe73.5Cu1W3Si15.5B7 where tantalum or tungsten replaces niobium, which was generally used with the same atomic fractions of the other elements. The stress sensitivity coefficient was also theoretically deduced in its developmentvs. the applied magnetic bias field. Structural relaxation and crystallization consequences are evidenced. Moreover an already predicted relation between the maximum of magnetoelastic wave amplitude and the minimum of stress sensitivity coefficient was confirmed.

    Description / Table of Contents: Riassunto Le variazioni di magnetizzazione prodotte da una tensione esterna in nastri di metallo amorfo sono state teoricamente calcolate partendo dal modello semplificato generalmente adottato per descrivere l'accoppiamento magnetoelastico in detti materiali. Tenendo conto delle differenze tra il comportamento reale e quello ideale, si mostra come i risultati sperimentali, ottenuti nei nastri amorfi in commercio, possono essere ben previsti mediante le valutazioni teoriche. D'altra parte, si mostra come un nastro amorfo, opportunamente selezionato, possa rilevare variazioni di tensione di 1 MPa sino a valori base della sollecitazione di circa 100 MPa.
    Abstract: Резюме Теоретически вычисляются изменения намагниченности, ΔM, индуцированные внешним растятивающим напряжением, σ, в металлических аморфных полосах, исходя из упрощенной модели, обычно используемой для описания магнитоупругой связи в аморфных металлах. Учитывая различия между идеальным поведением и реальным поведением, мы показываем, что экснериментальные результаты в коммерческих аморфных полосах для зависимости ΔM от σ могут быть получены из теоретических вычислений. С другой стороны, отмечается, что соответствующая ферромгнитная полоса может представлять магнитноупругий датчик, способный измерять изменения напряжения от ≃1 МПа вплоть до 100 МПа.
    Notes: Summary The magnetization changes, ΔM, induced by an external tensile stress, σ, in metallic-glass ribbons are theoretically calculated starting from the simplified model generally used for describing the magnetoelastic coupling in amorphous metals. Taking into account the discrepancies between the ideal behaviour and the real one as revealed in commercial amorphous ribbons, we show that the experimental results, concerning ΔM as a function of σ, can be well predicted by the theoretical evaluations. On the other hand, it results that a suitable ferromagnetic ribbon can be a magnetoelastic sensor able to measure variations of ≃1 MPa up to the 100 MPa stress.

    Description / Table of Contents: Riassunto Sono stati trattati termicamente mediante irradiazione laser continua dei provini nastriformi di metglas 2826. Diverse condizioni sono state ottenute variando la potenza del fascio e la durata dell'irradiazione. Un semplice modello termico ha consentito di ottenere le temperature raggiunte nei vari trattamenti e di stimare la possibilità di realizare o meno la cristallizzazione. Le previsioni sono state ben verificate dai risultati sperimentali. In particolare si sono misurate variazioni della magnetostrizione e del modulo di Young coerenti anche con le indicazioni della precedente letteratura.
    Abstract: Резюме Проводится C.w.-лазерный отжиг 2826 узких полосок Fe40Ni40P14B6; изменяя мощность пучка и время облучения. Разработана упрощенная модель для получения информации об увеличении температуры образцов и появлении кристаллизаџии. Предсказания согласуются с экспериментальными результатами. Изменения магнитных и механических свойств, индуцированные лазером, частично проверяются с помощью изменений магнитострикционного отклика и модуля юнга.
    Notes: Summary C.w. laser annealing of metglas 2826 ribbons was performed by varying beam power and irradiation time. A simplified thermal model was elaborated to have information about the temperature rise of the samples and the occurrence of crystallization. The predictions were in agreement with the experimental results. The laser-induced changes of magnetic and mechanical properties were particularly tested by means of the magnetostrictive response and the Young-modulus variations.

    Notes: Summary The magnetic susceptibility during hysteresis cycles was measured in both amorphous and crystalline metallic ribbons. The analysis of the dependence on magnetizing field evidences a different behaviour due to the structural differences. The fundamental importance of the amplitude of the magnetizing field used for dynamic evaluation of initial susceptibility is demonstrated and related to the measured effects as well. Moreover, both temperature and frequency effects on the initial susceptibility confirm some peculiar properties related to the amorphous character.

    Notes: Summary A previos thermal model for the heat treatment of a little metal ribbon, moving under a broad laser beam with Gaussian intensity distribution, is elaborated in order to apply it also in the opposite experimental condition, namely for sample width higher than the laser spot. The temperature valuevs. the distance from the symmetry axis of the treated zone is determined as a function of both the sample displacement rate and the laser power. When structural and magnetic-property modulation is produced in the transverse direction of a glassy metal ribbon, the experimental results, concerning both reduced magnetization as a function of the temperature and structure changes, are in agreement with the thermal-model predictions.

    Description / Table of Contents: Riassunto Si è riesaminata la magnetostrizione a saturazione di cilindri policristallini sottoposti a torsione. Lo sforzo critico oltre cui la magnetostrizione rimane costante è individuato con un metodo semisperimentale, che permette anche una stima dell'anisotropia cristallina. L'effetto di quest'ultima, a valori critici dello sforzo torsionale, non appare sinora ben spiegato, persino nel caso di semplice tensione. Si presenta una possibile interpretazione fondata sullo studio dell'andamento della magnetizzazione in approccio alla saturazione.
    Abstract: Резюме Исследуется влияние напряжений на насыщение магнитострикции поликристаллических стержней, подвергнутых кручению. Определяется критическое крутящее напряжение, вьше которого магнитострикция остается постоянной и оценивается уровень кристаллической анизотропии при различных кручениях. Как и в случае растяжения, до сих пор влияние кристаллической анизотропии на критическое напряжение не получило надлежащей интерпретации. Предлагается возможное объяснение поведения кривой намагничивания вблизи насьщения.
    Notes: Summary A contribution to the investigation of the stress effect on the saturation magnetostriction of polyerystalline rods stressed by torsion is presented. The critical torsional stress above which magnetostriction remains constant is found and the crystal anisotropy level, at various torsions, is estimated. As in the tensional case, the effect of crystal anisotropy at the critical stress has not been clearly interpreted so far. A study of the behaviour of the magnetization curve near saturation provides a possible explanation.

    Description / Table of Contents: Riassunto La cinetica dell’anisotropia trasversale, indotta da trattamenti termomagnetici, è stata studiata per valori del campo magnetico notevolmente piú piccoli di quelli generalmente impiegati. Si dimostra la relazione del modulo di elasticità lineare e la magnetostrizione longitudinale con l’energia di anisotropia indotta, come già predetto in un precedente lavoro. In base alla coerenza dei risultati abbiamo potuto stimare la direzione di facile magnetizzazione indotta da trattamenti termomagnetici parziali. I risultati sono in accordo con l’ipotesi teorica di tempi di rilassamento distribuiti.
    Abstract: Резюме Исследуется начальное развитие поперечной анизотропии, индуцированной магнитным отжигом, в магнитных полях, напряженности которых очень малые по сравнению с обычно используемыми. Измерения модуля Юнга и продольной магнитострикции не только показывают связь с индуцированной анизотропией, но также позволяют вычислить направление легкого намагничивания. Полученные результаты согласуются с теорией.
    Notes: Summary The initial development of the transverse anisotropy induced by magnetic annealing is investigated for magnetizing field values which are much smaller than the ones generally employed. Measurements of Young modulus and longitudinal magnetostriction not only show their relation with induced anistotropy, as predicted in a previous paper, but also enable us to calculate the easy magnetization direction. The results are in agreement with the distributed relaxation time theory.

    Notes: Summary The piezomagnetic coupling coefficient (the «stress sensitivity») is quantitatively investigated below room temperature and a comparison is made among polycrystalline samples and amorphous ones. The technique used is an original one. It experimentally consists in the measurement of the amplitude of magnetoelastic waves, their resonance frequency and differential susceptibility; theoretically, it consists in coupling Newton’s law of force with the piezomagnetic state equations. The results clearly show different responses of polycrystalline samples with respect to the amorphous ones; in particular the nonmonotonic behaviour of the «stress sensitivity» for metallic glasses is interesting for establishing their actual magnetic states at low temperature.
