Abstract: Co-chaperones are important mediators of the outcome of chaperone assisted protein homeostasis, which is the dynamic integration of the processes of protein folding, degradation and translocation to ensure that cellular function is finely tuned in space and time. This third edition of the book The Networking of Chaperones by Co-chaperones describes how the function of the major molecular chaperones is regulated by co-chaperones, a diverse cohort of non-client proteins. Since the second edition was released, not only has knowledge deepened on how co-chaperones act as nodes to network and functionalise chaperones, but an understanding of their broader biological function has started to emerge. The third edition provides new and updated chapters highlighting recent developments and emerging themes on co-chaperones, such as their extracellular functions, their role in human disease and their status as putative drug targets. The book is a useful resource for both newcomers and established researchers in the field of cell stress and chaperones, as well as those interested in cross-cutting disciplines such as cellular networks and systems biology. .

Description / Table of Contents: The Potassium Cycle and Its Relationship to Recommendation Development -- Inputs: Potassium Sources for Agricultural Systems -- Outputs: Potassium Losses from Agricultural Systems -- Rhizosphere Processes and Root Traits Determining the Acquisition of Soil Potassium -- Potassium Use Efficiency of Plants -- Considerations for Unharvested Plant Potassium -- Considering Soil Potassium Pools with Dissimilar Plant Availability -- Using Soil Tests to Evaluate Plant Availability of Potassium in Soils -- Evaluating Plant Potassium Status -- How Closely is Potassium Mass Balance Related to Soil Test Changes -- Assessing Potassium Mass Balances in Different Countries and Scales -- Considerations for Selecting Potassium Placement Methods in Soil -- Timing Potassium Applications to Synchronize with Plant Demand -- Broadening the Objectives of Future Potassium Recommendations -- Improving Human Nutrition: A Critical Objective for Potassium Recommendations for Agricultural Crops.
Abstract: This open access book highlights concepts discussed at two international conferences that brought together world-renowned scientists to advance the science of potassium (K) recommendations for crops. There was general agreement that the potassium recommendations currently in general use are oversimplified, outdated, and jeopardize soil, plant, and human health. Accordingly, this book puts forward a significantly expanded K cycle that more accurately depicts K inputs, losses and transformations in soils. This new cycle serves as both the conceptual basis for the scientific discussions in this book and a framework upon which to build future improvements. Previously used approaches are critically reviewed and assessed, not only for their relevance to future enhancements, but also for their use as metrics of sustainability. An initial effort is made to link K nutrition in crops and K nutrition in humans. The book offers an invaluable asset for graduate students, educators, industry scientists, data scientists, and advanced agronomists.

Description / Table of Contents: Lactose: Chemistry and Properties -- Solid and Liquid States of Lactose -- Significance of Lactose in Dairy Products -- Production and Uses of Lactose -- Galactooligosaccharides -- Lactose Malabsorption -- Indigenous Milk Oligosaccharides -- Milk Salts -- Minerals in milk: concentration and effects of dairy processing -- Vitamins and minerals in milk: concentration and effects of dairy processing -- Water in dairy products -- Physico-chemical properties of milk.
Abstract: The Advanced Dairy Chemistry series was first published in four volumes in the 1980s (under the title Developments in Dairy Chemistry) and revised in three volumes in the late 1990s and again in the 2000s and 2010s. For nearly four decades, the series has been the leading reference source on dairy chemistry and is now in its fourth edition. Advanced Dairy Chemistry Volume 3: Lactose, Water, Salts, and Minor Constituents, fourth edition, reviews the extensive literature on lactose and its significance in milk products. This volume also reviews the literature on milk salts, vitamins, and the behaviour of water in dairy products and the physical properties of milk. Most topics covered in the third edition are retained in the current edition, which has been updated and expanded considerably. New chapters cover chemically and enzymatically prepared derivatives of lactose and oligosaccharides indigenous to milk and some chapters from earlier editions are consolidated.

Abstract: This book highlights the integration of science and imaging and demonstrates how we can teach and learn in a much more accessible, innovative, and engaging way using technology. This volume is particularly focused on three main themes: advanced microscopy, anatomy education, and radiology visualisation related to patient care. The chapters pertaining to advanced microscopy convey complex biomedical information by visual means. These chapters provide both an overview on the principles of microscopy and specific applications of microscopy that have led to groundbreaking discoveries. Chapters pertaining to education summarise the recent trends in teaching gross and microscopic anatomy and emphasise the creation and use of novel tools to support student learning. Lastly, the radiological visualisation segment dives into the history of radiographic imaging and highlights the profound effect technology has had on improving patient outcomes. This volume will be of particular interest to many; the scope of this book encompasses medicine, dentistry, allied health professions, biomedical sciences, anatomy and histology education, radiology, and microscopy. Students, researchers, educators, and clinicians will learn something new, be stimulated to ask innovative questions, and be inspired to continue the technological advancements pushing science forward. .
