Description: A radio frequency identification reader antenna having multitag identification for medical systems is presented, which consists of four PIFAs, two hybrid couplers, and four power dividers. The high isolation is achieved by the symmetric design of the antenna geometry and four power dividers, which are fed by two hybrid couplers. The experimental results show an isolation of more than 40 dB in the North American (902–928 MHz), Korean (917–923.5 MHz), and Japanese (916.7–923.5 MHz) RFID frequency bands.

Description: The Internet of Things (IoT) operates solely on local interactions among its components, which include various devices with communications capabilities. Because the IoT is a fully distributed computing network, it is important to mitigate any negative effects resulting from faults occurring in its components and to provide sustainable services. This paper focuses on fault management of IoT services. In particular, it handles a fault management scheme for the self-organizing software platform (SoSp), a platform on which IoT services connected to various IT devices are deployed. The proposed fault management scheme enables SoSp to provide situation aware IoT services without loss of data and state.

Description: The sewage treatment efficiency of hybrid constructed wetlands (CWs) was evaluated under different ventilation methods. The removal efficiencies of biochemical oxygen demand (BOD), total nitrogen (TN), and total phosphorus (TP) in the vertical flow- (VF-) horizontal flow (HF) CWs using an electric fan air blower by the renewable energy of solar and wind power were higher than those by natural ventilation, excluding only suspended solids (SS). The TN treatment efficiency in the CW using the air blower especially increased rapidly by 16.6% in comparison with the CW employing natural ventilation, since the VF bed provided suitable conditions (aerobic) for nitrification to occur. The average removal efficiencies of BOD, SS, TN, and TP in the effluent were 98.8, 97.4, 58.0, and 48.3% in the CW using an electric fan air blower, respectively. The treatment performance of the CWs under different ventilation methods was assessed, showing TN in the CW using an electric fan air blower to be reduced by 57.5~58.6% for inlet TN loading, whereas reduction by 19.0~53.3% was observed in the CW with natural ventilation. Therefore, to increase the removal of nutrients in CWs, an improved ventilation system, providing ventilation via an electric fan air blower with the renewable energy, is recommended.

Description: A systemic study of some families of q-Genocchi numbers and families of polynomials of Nörlund type is presented by using the multivariate fermionic p-adic integral on ℤp. The study of these higher-order q-Genocchi numbers and polynomials yields an interesting q-analog of identities for Stirling numbers.

Description: Recently, due to the popularization of the smartphone and social network service (SNS), many SNS users write their opinions for social events. According to these social phenomena, social sensor network which analyzes social events by utilizing those users’ text data is proposed. Parsing is essential module to analyze user’s text contents because it gives the understanding of semantics by extracting the words and their classes from texts. However, parsing requires much time because it needs to analyze all context information from the users’ text. In addition, as users’ text data are generated and transferred in streaming, the required parsing time increases too. This situation occurs that it is hard to parse the text on the single machine. Therefore, to drastically enhance the parsing speed, we propose distributed and parallel parsing system on the MapReduce. It applies the legacy parser to the MapReduce through loose coupling. Also, to reduce communication overheads, the statistical model used by the parser is resided on local cache in each mapper. The experimental result shows that the speed of proposed system is 2–19 times better than that of the legacy parser. As a result, we prove that the proposed system is useful for parsing text data in social sensor network.

Description: Sensor Networks can perceive the extensive area by applying many sensor nodes because the size of sensor nodes is relatively small and cheap. Sensor nodes can transfer multi-hop data to sink nodes which are far away than sending and receiving distance. Generally sensor nodes are composed of a large size so it is difficult that much capacity is loaded on nodes. Many routing methods are proposed in order to raise energy efficiency in sensor networks field. There is a routing method based on structure as a composing method of network by cluster. Cluster technology consisting and maintaining network topology based on cluster is mostly studied in routing protocol. There are demerits that LEACH, EACHS shall be rest energy of all nodes and HEED does not guarantee the number of cluster head. Proposed energy efficiency of selected cluster head guarantees the number of cluster head which is a demerit of HEED and minimizes the node of DEAD.

Description: As the sensor networks are broadly used in diverse range of applications, Semantic Web technologies have been adopted as a means to manage the huge amount of heterogeneous sensor nodes and their observation data. Large amount of sensor data are annotated with spatial, temporal, and thematic semantic metadata. As a consequence, efficient query processing over large RDF graph is becoming more important in retrieving contextual information from semantic sensor data. In this paper we propose a novel path querying scheme which uses RDF schema information. By utilizing the class path expressions precalculated from RDF schema, the graph search space is significantly reduced. Compared with the conventional BFS algorithm, the proposed algorithm (bidirectional BFS combined with class path lookup approach) achieves performance improvement by 3 orders of magnitude. Additionally, we show that the proposed algorithm is efficiently parallelizable, and thus, the proposed algorithm returns graph search results within a reasonable response time on even much larger RDF graph.

Description: In Internet of Things, secure key establishment and building trust relationship between the thing and the home gateway (or the controller) in home network or Body Area Network are extremely important. Without the guarantee of establishment of key and trust relationship, the traffic over the Internet of Things network cannot be presumed secure. Also, when the home gateway, which knows the shared secret key, is out of order and the new gateway should be installed, the secure key establishment and building trust relationship are also very important because this scenario is likely to happen in real world. In addition, the thing is resource-constrained device, so it is difficult when secure key establishment and building trust relationship involve Public Key Infrastructure. To address these problems, this paper presents user-friendly bootstrapping and rebootstrapping schemes in the context of Internet of Thing using the human memorable password. The proposed schemes do not require a special hardware module on the thing or special equipment for bootstrapping and rebootstrapping. All these properties make the proposed scheme cost-effective and easy to use.

Description: Ground-based glaciogenic seeding experiments were conducted at the Daegwallyeong Cloud Physics Observation Site (CPOS) from 2012 to 2015 for the target area Yongpyeong, which lies 9 km away. The preseeding (NOSEED) and seeding (SEED) periods were defined based on the simulation results of AgI concentration (〉10 L−1) in the Weather Research and Forecast (WRF) model with the modified Morrison scheme in microphysics. It was difficult to determine whether snow enhancement via seeding occurred over the entire target area due to uncertainties associated with limitations such as observations and numerical model based on only two points (seeding and target sites). However, in three of four cases, the vertical reflectivity from micro rain radar, total concentration, and average size of snow particles observed at PARSIVEL and precipitation increased in the seeding effect time. In two of four cases, the simulated increased precipitation during the seeding effect time was also observed. In one case that did not show changes after seeding, it is analyzed that a sufficient cloud depth was not supplied to the seeding region due to the blocking effect of the Taebaek Mountains.

Description: This paper provides an effective approach for the prediction and estimation of space debris due to a vehicle breakup during uncontrolled reentry. For an advanced analysis of the time evolution of space debris dispersion, new efficient computational approaches are proposed. A time evolution of the dispersion of space pieces from a breakup event to the ground impact time is represented in terms of covariance ellipsoids, and in this paper, two covariance propagation methods are introduced. First, a derivative-free statistical linear regression method using the unscented transformation is utilized for performing a covariance propagation. Second, a novel Gaussian moment-matching method is proposed to compute the estimation of the covariance of a debris dispersion by using a Gauss-Hermite cubature-based numerical integration approach. Compared to a linearized covariance propagation method such as the Lyapunov covariance equation, the newly proposed Gauss-Hermite cubature-based covariance computation approach could provide high flexibilities in terms of effectively representing an initial debris dispersion and also precisely computing the time evolution of the covariance matrices by utilizing a larger set of sigma points representing debris components. In addition, we also carry out a parametric study in order to analyze the effects on the accuracy of the covariance propagation due to modeling uncertainties. The effectiveness of the newly proposed statistical linear regression method and the Gauss-Hermite computational approach is demonstrated by carrying out various simulations.
