An investigation of the metallurgy of a pseudobinary section of the ternary-phase diagram has been performed by means of differential thermal analysis, x-ray diffraction, and metallography. Microstructural observations and lattice parameter variations have been interpreted in terms of the existence of a solid solubility range for the Laves phase. Thermal analysis has established the details of the phase relationships in the region of the Laves phase and on the basis of the results a modified phase diagram is proposed.
