Notes: The problem of finding a class of solutions of Einstein's field equations for the interior of a uniformly rotating, axisymmetric perfect fluid is reduced to the integration of a known function. A number of solutions of the class is given explicitly. The equipressure surfaces of all solutions of the class are planes. The class contains solutions with the equation of state p=γμ, γ〉0, 0〉γ≥−1+2/(5)1/2, and γ≤−1−2/(5)1/2, which are given explicitly.

Notes: Leaf hygrometers were used to establish pressure-volume curves on detached leaves of four herbaceous species (Asarum europaeum, L., Hepatica nobilis, Mill., Phyteuma spicatum, L., Pulmonaria officialis, L.). Breakdown of leaf tissues due to drought injury was independently estimated. There was good agreement between the onset of visible symptoms and beginning deviations from the straight-line portion of the pressure-volume curve. Type I transformation of data (plots of water potential vs. reciprocal relative water content) is superior for recognizing deviating data points. The results are discussed in the context of pressure-volume curve methodology; pressure-volume curves are shown to provide a promising tool for estimating and displaying drought tolerance in plants.

Description / Table of Contents: Abstract A granite was drilled in the prevolcanic basement of Thera, an island of the Attico-Cycladic belt. It intruded the blueschist facies country rocks. K-Ar biotite ages and Ar-Ar plateau ages on two feldspars indicate rapid cooling, as all ages cluster around 9.5 Ma. Its occurrence indicates that the thermometamorphic evolution that characterizes the Attiko-Cycladic belt extends as far as Thera.

    Notes: Abstract A model containing a nonet of scalar mesonsS, a nonet of pseudoscalar mesonsP, and a nonet of baryons is constructed where the mesons enter in the form of the matrixM=ei(S+iP), Several Lagrangians are introduced such that the mesons get their physical masses, and the decay widths of the scalar mesons are calculated. The model satisfies generalized PCAC. It is found that the coupling constants of the mesonsε(700) andε′(1060) to pions and nucleons satisfy the relations: $$\frac{{|G_{\varepsilon NN} |}}{{|G_{\varepsilon \pi \pi } |}} = 1 \cdot 4,\frac{{|G_{\varepsilon 'NN} |}}{{|G_{\varepsilon '\pi \pi } |}} = 0 \cdot 89,\frac{{|G_{\varepsilon \pi \pi } G_{\varepsilon NN} |}}{{4\pi }} = 4 \cdot 9,{\text{and}}\frac{{|G_{\varepsilon '\pi \pi } G_{\varepsilon 'NN} |}}{{4\pi }} = 0 \cdot 34.$$

Notes: Abstract The equations for the pseudopotential of Harrison's Bäcklund transformations with seed solution an asymptotically flat solution of the Ernst equation are solved. A new series of asymptotically flat solutions of the equations of general relativity is obtained from the determinants of matrices, whose elements are known. The first solution of the series is calculated as a ratio of two sums of monomials. This solution has five arbitrary real constants. For a particular choice of the constants it becomes Kerr's solution.

Notes: Abstract The class of previously found stationary axisymmetric perfect fluid solutions of Einstein's equations is written inh-orthogonal coordinates,h being a space-like coordinate. Matching of a big number of solutions of the class with each other seems to be possible for a proper choice of some parameters. The exterior solutions of the class are matched explicitly with interior solutions. Also, interior solutions are matched explicitly with each other.

Notes: Abstract The Bäcklund transformations of the self-dual Yang-Mills fields are used to derive exact solutions of the stationary axially symmetric Einstein equations. Three solutions which belong to an infinite series of such solutions are explicitly calculated, the first of which is the Lewis solution. Also the first of another infinite series of solutions is calculated, which for some value of a parameter becomes the Papapetrou solution.

Notes: Abstract A general class of solutions of Einstein's equations for the interior of a rigidly rotating axisymmetric perfect fluid is presented, which depends on an arbitrary function. To get solutions explicitly one has to calculate two integrals involving the arbitrary function. The equipressure surfaces of all solutions of the class are spheres or planes. A family of solutions, which depend on four arbitrary real constants, is calculated explicitly. The solution of the family, which is obtained if we assign a specific value to one of its parameters, and which was found before, is futher generalized with the addition of one more parameter.
