Notes: [Auszug] Tc-99m is a nucleid with a period of semidisintegration time of 6 h, emitting y-radiation of 140 keV, obtained by acid elution of molybdenum-99 adsorbed on an aluminium column. It is obtained as a pertechnetiate (TcO4~), which has a behaviour similar to the I- ion in the body. We have used it with ...

Notes: Abstract. Observations of adult Atlantic halibut, Hippoglossus hippoglossus (L.), behaviour in cages were made with underwater camera and video recording equipment. Significantly more fish (P 〈 0·01) were found on the cage bottom than in the water column, fish tending to congregate around the outside rather than in the centre of the cage. During rough weather, the cage bottom was observed to heave violently and proportionately fewer fish remained on the bottom, those which did adopting an arched body posture with heads and tails not in contact with the cage bottom. Around 25% of the caged fish were active at any time, most of the active fish remaining close to the cage surface or bottom, with little use being made of the remaining cage volume. Fish were observed to swim in a circular pattern close to the cage walls (mean velocity 0·53 m/s), maintaining such behaviour for periods of up to 5min with little change in swimming speed. Whilst all food types were ingested, items delivered directly lo the cage bottom were taken only if detected within the first minute or so. The implications for rearing Atlantic halibut in conventional cages are discussed.

Notes: Abstract A sensitive, rapid and simple flow injection procedure for the determination of diphenhydramine has been designed based on a fluorometric approach. An aqueous solution of diphenhydramine is injected into a carrierreagent stream containing Ce(IV) in dilute sulphuric acid and the fluorescence intensity of the Ce(III) produced is monitored. Chemical, FIA and instrumental variables were optimized. Analytical features of the method are: linear range 0.2–2 ppm, precision 0.7%, sample throughput 80/h. The influence of some foreign substances which can be found in typical pharmaceutical samples containing diphenhydramine was also investigated. The diphenhydramine content of a pharmaceutical preparation was determined.

Notes: Summary A simple statistical calculation leads to a relation between crystallinity and concentration of defects (ɛ) times crystallite thickness yielding the average inclusion of chain defects per crystalline chain segment as an independent parameter. Comparison of X ray crystallinity data for branched isothermically crystallized polyethylene (PE) with buthyl or longer side sequences with our statistical predictions confirms inclusion of up to one defect per 100 carbon atoms (depending on ɛ) within the crystal lattice. These results are in good agreement with values derived from unit cell expansion measurements.

Notes: Abstract The morphology and structure of high molecular weight linear polyethylene (M w 450000) filled with carbon black and processed using molds that introduce an elongational flow component during injection molding has been examined using electron microscopy and x-ray diffraction techniques. The study of fracture surfaces reveals the display of shish-kebabs oriented along the injection direction with segregated longitudinal channels of carbon black particles. Molecular and lamellar changes in orientation are, furthermore, studied across the thickness of the moldings. It is shown that addition of carbon black particles to injection-molded polyethylene induces significant changes in lamellar orientation. Thus, while lamellar overgrowth proceeds perpendicular to the fiber axes within carbon free channels, lamellae grow randomly within carbon-enriched regions where flow is less pronounced.

Notes: Abstract Starting with a simple characterization of pairs of rigidly joined straight world lines, successive generalizations are obtained up to the most general case which allows us to establish the various definitions of rigid motions in relativity (both special and general).

Notes: Abstract Some of the properties of the oblate planet problem are derived. We use the technique of blowing up the singularity to study the collision orbits. We define some families of them in terms of their asymptotic behavior.

Notes: Abstract We consider the main problem in satellite theory restricted to the polar plane. For suitable values of the energy the system has two unstable periodic orbits. We classify the trajectories in terms of their ultimate behavior with respect these periodic orbits in: oscillating, asymptotic and capture orbits. We study the energy level set and the existence and properties of the mentioned types of motion.

Notes: Abstract The Sitnikov's Problem is a Restricted Three-Body Problem of Celestial Mechanics depending on a parameter, the eccentricity,e. The Hamiltonian,H(z, v, t, e), does not depend ont ife=0 and we have an integrable system; ife is small the KAM Theory proves the existence of invariant rotational curves, IRC. For larger eccentricities, we show that there exist two complementary sequences of intervals of values ofe that accumulate to the maximum admissible value of the eccentricity, 1, and such that, for one of the sequences IRC around a fixed point persist. Moreover, they shrink to the planez=0 ase tends to 1.
