    Notizen: SO(8)± valued Yang–Mills multi-instantons are generalized to include three more winding numbers by parametrizing S8=CP1+×CP3 and performing the map x = (u,v1,v2,v3) → w = (un,vm11,vm22,vm33), so that the action is proportional to the product nm1m2m3. The fields that emerge in this parametrization form local representations of SO(8) at every point (v,m) of CP3×(Z+)3 through the decomposition SO(8)=SO(8)/SO(7)×SO(7)/SO(6)×SO(6)/U(3)×U(3). Beside the duality relation FΛF=±*FΛF), these fields also satisfy FΛFΛF∼±*F.

    Notizen: The graded nature of crystal structure, texture, and microhardness of human enamel has been characterized by grazing-incidence synchrotron radiation diffraction and Vickers indentation. Results show that the composition of tooth enamel consists mainly of calcium apatite or hydroxyapatite (HAP). The HAP crystals formed near the occlusal surface are aligned approximately orthogonal to each other between the axial and occlusal sections. In addition, the tooth enamel has been shown to be a hierarchical graded biomaterial with a distinct gradation in crystallinity, texture, crystallite size, and hardness, which is somewhat akin to that of the fibrous microstructures found in natural plants. A “graded-interface” approach is proposed as a biomimetic model for designing new dental or restorative materials as well as for joining of dissimilar materials.

    Notizen: The successful preparation of single-phase Hg-doped (2223) using a nitrate decomposition/solid state reaction method is described in this paper. The effects of Hg doping on the formation of single-phase (2223) have been investigated by X-ray and synchrotron radiation diffraction. When compared with Pb-doped system, the use of Hg as a dopant has resulted in the reduction of both the final sintering temperature and the annealing time of the single-pure (2223) material, without any obvious deterioration of the superconducting properties.

    Notizen: The evolution of deformation—;microfracture damage below Hertzian contacts in a coarse-grain Ti3SiC2 is studied. The Hertzian indentation stress—;strain response deviates strongly from linearity beyond a well-defined maximum, with pronounced strain—;softening, indicating exceptional deformability in this otherwise (elastically) stiff ceramic. Surface and subsurface ceramographic observations reveal extensive quasi-plastic microdamage zones at the contact sites. These damage zones are made up of multiple intragrain slip and intergrain shear failures, with attendant microfracture at high strains. No ring cracks or other macroscopic cracks are observed on or below the indented surfaces. The results suggest that Ti3SiC2 may be ideally suited to contact applications where high strains and energy absorption prior to failure are required.

In 20%iger Phosphorsäure ist dieses freie Radikal beständig und hat einen molaren Extinktionskoeffizienten von 9,7·103. Das rote CPZ· wird von Thiosulfat, Eisen(II), Askorbinsäure, NADH und NADPH vollständig zu CPZ reduziert. Die Zugabe dieser Reduktionsmittel zu einer roten Lösung von CPZ· hat eine Abnahme der Extinktion zur Folge, deren Ausmaß der Menge Reduktionsmittel proportional ist. Auf dieser Grundlage lassen sich Mikromengen reduzierender Substanzen quantitativ bestimmen.
    Notizen: Summary Chlorpromazine (CPZ) hydrochloride when reacted witho-iodosobenzoic acid in aqueous solution is oxidised to chlorpromazine free radical (CPZ·) which has an absorption maximum at 530 nm. In the presence of 20% phosphoric acid the free radical is stable and has a molar extinction coefficient of 9.7×103. The red CPZ· is readily reduced quantitatively by thiosulphate, ferrous ion, ascorbic acid, and the reduced form of the coenzymes nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP) to the colourless CPZ under the conditions described. The addition of these reducing substances to a red solution of CPZ· results in a decrease in absorbance in direct proportion to the quantity of the reducing compounds present. This forms the basis for the quantitative estimation of micro-quantities of reducing substances.

Das rot gefärbte freie Radikal wird von NADH bzw. von NADPH zu farblosem CPZ reduziert. Der Farbverlust ist der Menge anwesender reduzierter Coenzyme proportional. Auf dieser Grundlage beruht ein allgemein anwendbares kolorimetrisches Verfahren zur Bestimmung von NAD+- oder NADP+-abhängigen Oxydoreduktasen. Einzelheiten der Bestimmung und Normalwerte von Lactat-,α-Hydroxybutyrat-, Isozitrat-, Sorbit-, Glucose-6-phosphat- und 6-Phosphogluconatdehydrogenase in Serum und Erythrozyten wurden angegeben.
