    Description: This survey is part of the investigation on feasibility of introduction of Litopenaeus vannamei Boone, 1931 in shrimp culture industry of Iran. The objective was evaluation of the adaptation of the white leg shrimp, L. vannamei to brackish groundwaters of the Bafgh area in Yazd province. Around 120000 shrimp postlarvae (PL7 and 15) were stocked in four 0.15ha earthen ponds (17 and 23 ind/m super(2)) in July 2005 and the culture period took about four months. Physicochemical and biological factors were studied during the culture. Shrimps were fed with commercial feed of the L. vannamei. Results showed low survival (19.2%) and growth (2-2.5g mean body weight). Based on the assessments, the limnological factors were most unfavorable elements causing the low growth in the shrimp. Concentration of K, Ca, Mg and Na Fe (II and III), different heavy metals, nitrogenous compounds, water hardness and the season and thermal periods are probably the most essential factors affecting production yield of the shrimp because of underground origin of the water. Also, the structure of ponds and drainages, presence of invasive water plants and insects may have affected the survival and growth of the shrimp as well.

    Description: Possible effects of varying densities of cultured red algae Gracilaria corticata on algal growth parameters were studied using three density treatments 500, 1000 and 20002 g/m2 in nine culture tanks. We conducted the experiment in April to June 2002 and carried out daily tests of salinity, pH and temperature which were in the range 37-40ppm. 0.5-8.04 and 23-32 degrees centigrade. Epiphytes such as Nitzschia, Navicula and Hypnea and grazers such as Amphipoda, Isopoda and Nereis were detected in the tanks during the experiment. We observed the highest daily growth and net production in treatment one (500g/m2) to be 3.74±0.31 and 38.3±5.4 respectively and the lowest measurements were seen in treatment three (2000 g/m2) recorded as 3.74±0.31 and 38.3±5.4 respectively. Daily growth measurements were significantly different among treatments (P〈0.05). Net production as significantly different between treatment one as a group and other treatments (P 0.05). This was not the case between treatments and three.

    Description: The brown algae of Sargassum glaucescens is found all along the coastal waters of Sistan and Balouchestan province in the Oman Sea. This species as a raw material can be used in different industries and is considered as an economical marine resources. In order to determine the distribution pattern and biomass of this species eleven growing regions were surveyed from Gwatr area in east and Miedany in west. The sampling were carried out monthly in inter-tidal zone and seasonally in subtidal zone. After sampling, the wet-and dry weight, mean length of taIls and number of branches were measured. Also, some physical and chemical parameters were measured. The results showed that brown algae is distributed all along the studied area in the second half of the year, meanwhile in the Gwatr area is found all seasons. The mean biomass of S. glaucescen,y in Gwatr, Chabahar, Tang and Galak was estimated 629.9, 235.5,314.4 and 127.5 g/m2, respectively.

    Description: Monthly sampling of red algae was carried out from April 2005 to March 2006 in Chabahar coasts (southestern of Iran) along Sistan & Baluchistan province coastal waters. We considered monthly periods of maximum tide according to tide tables. Then seaweed growth area in intertidal zones was determind through GPS, GIS and satellite imagery. Monthly sampling was conducted on a number of transects with equal distance and in randomly chosen 50×50cm quadrates. The samples were transfered to Offshore Waters Research Center’s lab and after cleaning and separating, the weight of each species recognized was measuerd according to the present references. The biomass of each species was obtained per area unit and in the total area after determing the average weight of species. During this research, 13 species of medicinal red algae were recognized, and the most important families included: Gelidiaceae, Gracilariaceae, Hypneaceae and Rhodomelaceae. Total biomass in the area of Chabahar Coasts were 865.2 tons and the monthly average was 72.1 tons. The maximum biomass was obtained in February as 149.8 tons (828g/m2 ) and the minimum biomass was seen in May as 16.3 tons (90.2g/m2 ). The maximum biomass belonged to Gracilaria corticata (%33.1) and the minimum biomass to Hypnea pannosa (%1).

    Description: An experiment were conducted to evaluate The effect of feeding frequencies and stocking size on growth and feed conversion ratio (FCR) of rainbow trout (O. mykiss) in brackish water for 102 days. Three stocking sizes (10, 25 and 40 g/fish) of rainbow trout and three feeding frequencies (feeding fish twice, three times and four times per day) were examined as the same time. Fish were fed at a restricted feeding program according to the rainbow trout standard table in the definite times during the light period. The results showed that in the group with 10 g initial weight increasing the feeding frequency, some growth factors like final weight, daily growth, and weight gain. But the other factors such as food conversion rate (FCR) and specific growth rate (SGR) decrease. It means in this group (10 g) two times feeding per day is not enough for an acceptable growth rate. In the two other groups with (initial weight 25 and 40 g) although by increasing the feeding frequency, some growth factors a little increase but these differences in 95% level (p≤0.05) are not significant. Therefore in rainbow trout culture with initial weight at least 25 g two times feeding per day was enough. The results of carcasses analysis of fish, showed that by increasing the feeding frequency there were no significantly difference at 95% level between the body compositions in all of treatments. With connivance of feeding frequencies, the best FCR was in the group with 10 g initial body weight and there was not any significant difference in SGR. So according to the results, it suggests that fish should be stocked with 10 g initial body weight.

    Description: Due to lack of access to comprehensive and up-to-date information regarding equipment, personnel, laboratory services tariffs and chemicals in the laboratories of Iran Fisheries Research Institute and felt the necessity of having this information for optimal management of the laboratories, it was decided with regard to all information needs in this area and using previous experiences in this regard as well as the experiences of other institutions and related organizations at the national (and even international) level, the system would be designed. The main purpose of implementing this plan was to establish and implement a software system based on web technology to create a comprehensive database of the Fisheries Research Institute's laboratories, so that in addition to organizing information, using periodic reports on various related areas a more appropriate monitoring and management system could be applied. Fortunately, after the design and implementation stages, the system in early January 2011 was fully applicable. The main parts of this system include portal; database; advanced data entry, search and reporting capabilities; direct tests order system and discussion forums.

As results, these guideline and indexes were codifies for these fish farms and propagation centers.It's obviously that these sustainable patterns can be used for improving of permanent development for this aquacultural industry.

    Description: This study was performed to investigating distribution and biomass of two species of brown algae (Colpomenia sinuosa and Iyengaria stellata) in coastal waters of Hormozgan Province, Southern Iran. We sampled the algae over the years 2001 to 2002 in low tide periods using random 0.5 * 0.5 quadrats along a transect passing through six sampling stations. The highest distribution extent of the two brown algae species during winter and spring seasons observed which coincided with the highest fluctuation in their biomass. The maximum biomass of C. sinuosa in winter and spring was 142 and 75 grams/m2 respectively. For I. stellata, the maximum biomass in the two seasons was 208 and 189 Grams/m2 respectively. Analysis of variance showed a significant difference among the biomass of the two algae species over different months and seasons of the year (p〈0.05). Hence, we concluded that the species occurrence is seasonal and did not find a significant difference in the biomass of the two species obtained from different sampling stations. However, species appearance in different stations occurred in different months with the western stations showing a 1 to 2 months’ time lag compared to that of the eastern stations.

    Description: The objective of this study was to evaluate 4 levels of feeding defined as 1.ad libitum to satiation, 2.Standard feeding (based on fish size and water temperature), 3.10% less than that of standard feeding and 4.10% more than that of standard feeding on growth, feed conversion rate (FCR) and carcass quality of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) reared in 12 aerated flow-through fiber glass tanks (2500l rearing volume, n=150 fish per tank, body weight average 45 g) comprised of 3 replicates under the condition of brackish water (salinity 8.4 g/l) in Bafgh Fisheries Research Station in center of Iran. The increase in average body weight (BW) and size of fish in different feeding groups was significantly different (P〈0.01) during the experiment (101 days) and the highest average BW and size increase occurred in the group fed ad libitum to satiation. On the contrary, FCR (average±SE: 1.27±0.09) in this group was statistically lower than that of the other groups (P〈0.01). The chemical composition of carcass was significantly influenced by the level of feeding (P〈0.01) and the percent of moisture, crude protein and ash was the lowest in the group fed ad libitum to satiation while the crude fat percent in this group was the highest of all. According to the results obtained in this study, an ad libitum feeding regime is suggested for rainbow trout production in fish culture systems of central desert regions in Iran under the condition of brackish water. However, further investigations are needed to draw firm conclusions, especially in earth pond cultures with different conditions, enriched in live food.

    Description: Twelve peneus merguensis brood stocks with 36gr average weight were captured from Sirik fishing ground and stocked in two 6 tons ponds to study feasibility of propagation and culture of penaeus mergunsis in Hormozgan province. 415800 and 960000 naupli with 31% and 21.2% survival rate of pl15 were achieved in pond 1 and 2 respectively. Naupli were fed with chaetoceros, mysis and postlarvae with artemia. Three half hectare pond were stocked with pl15, eight per square and cultured for 150 days. Finally average weight in each pond was 10.1, 11.5, and 17.6gr respectively. Final product and survival rate in each pond was 730kg and 88percent, 598kg and 63 percent, 266kg and 19 percent respectively. The results showed that propagation of p.merguensis is feasible and it can be introduced as a culture species if suitable food is available.
