Notes:
Conclusions Peat soils are characterized by a change of porosity and permeability within wide ranges during consolidation, which leads to nonlinearity of the consolidation process, and the consolidation coefficient can be represented as a function of time. In the given case the consolidation process can be calculated by a numerical method with the use of a computer. In the case of small values of the parameter m (m=a·10−4) in Eq. (5) the nonlinearity of the consolidation process can be neglected.
