Abstract Aqueous solutions of Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) perchlorates, and for comparison, Mg(II) and Ca(II) perchlorates, have been studied by IR spectroscopy using HDO as an indicator. The investigations were carried out over the entire available concentration range of these salts. Computer deconvolution of the measured spectra demonstrates the effect of metal cations on the HDO molecules.
