    Notizen: Conclusions 1. A formula is proposed, with which the strength of porous sintered materials may be evaluated as a function of porosity, pore shape and size, nonuniformity of stress distribution over the actual specimen cross section, and specimen size. 2. It is shown that, if rupture of a porous specimen occurs at a cross section which has been weakened most by pores, the strength characteristics of the specimen may be expected to be influenced by its size. A formula allowing for this factor is derived. 3. Various analytical expressions for the distribution of stress over the actual cross section of a specimen are examined, and their connection with the type of the strength vs porosity relationship is demonstrated.

    Notizen: Conclusions The article presents the results of an investigation of the mechanical properties of samples of iron powder obtained by reducing martite ore by converted natural gas. The use of this raw material for producing iron powder for the needs of the powder metallurgy industry permits a considerable extension of the raw material reserves. As a result of the investigations the authors determined the characteristics of strength, plasticity and fatigue strength of material of varying porosity. The regularities of deformation of such materials and the strength characteristics of the duration of load application were studied. The results show that the strength and plasticity of metal powder materials of similar composition made of other kinds of iron powders.

The use of the above-described devices, wire sensors, and appropriate apparatus enabled us to trace the effect of the loading rate on the strength of brittle materials in a wide rate of rates (maximum and minimum rates differed by about six orders, 10−3–103 kg/mm2· sec). 2. These investigations demonstrated that, with increasing loading rates the strength characteristics of the investigated brittle cermets increased (they increased by 10–20% for the investigated range of rates). 3. The strength of the porous cermets is virtually independent of the loading rate within the investigated range.
