Notizen: Thirteen bound vibrational levels (v=0–12) and a portion of the continuum of the Na2 a 3Σ+u state have been observed in rotationally resolved fluorescence spectra from single rotation-vibration levels of two 3Πg states. These 3Πg states were populated by A 1Σ+u∼b 3Πu perturbation-facilitated optical–optical double resonance from the X 1Σ+g state. Analysis, using a LeRoy–Bernstein long-range expression for the energy levels, produced an RKR potential curve from which were derived, in combination with recent results obtained by Barrow et al. on the X 1Σ+g state, principal constants for the a 3Σ+u state of re=5.0911(30) A(ring), De=174.45(36) cm−1, ωe=24.47(21) cm−1, and Te=5848.21(35) cm−1. In addition, the exchange interaction between two ground state Na atoms was found from the difference between the X 1Σ+g and a 3Σ+u potential curves to be well represented by an exponential, A exp(-BR), A=9.44(71)×105 cm−1, B=1.448(14) A(ring)−1 for R(approximately-greater-than)5.0 A(ring).

Beschreibung: A simple scheme to produce strong magnetic fields due to cold electron flow in an open-ended coil heated by high power laser pulses is proposed. It differs from previous generation of magnetic fields driven by fast electron current in a capacitor-coil target [S. Fujioka et al ., Sci. Rep. 3 , 1170 (2013)]. The fields in our experiments are measured by B-dot detectors and proton radiography, respectively. A 205 T strong magnetic field at the center of the coil target is generated in the free space at Iλ 2 of 6.85 × 10 14  W cm −2   μ m 2 , where I is the laser intensity, and λ is the laser wavelength. The magnetic field strength is proportional to Iλ 2 . Compared with the capacitor-coil target, the generation mechanism of the magnetic field is straightforward and the coil is easy to be fabricated.

Beschreibung: Neutron yields have direct correlation with the energy of incident deuterons in experiments of laser deuterated target interaction [Roth et al. , Phys. Rev. Lett. 110 , 044802 (2013) and Higginson et al. , Phys. Plasmas 18 , 100703 (2011)], while deuterated plasma density is also an important parameter. Experiments at the Shenguang II laser facility have produced neutrons with energy of 2.45 MeV using d (d, n) He reaction. Deuterated foil target and K-shaped target were employed to study the influence of plasma density on neutron yields. Neutron yield generated by K-shaped target (nearly 10 6 ) was two times higher than by foil target because the K-shaped target results in higher density plasma. Interferometry and multi hydro-dynamics simulation confirmed the importance of plasma density for enhancement of neutron yields.

Beschreibung: Motivation: Human miRNAs have recently been found to have important roles in viral replication. Understanding the patterns and details of human miRNA interactions during virus–host interactions may help uncover novel antiviral therapies. Based on the abundance of knowledge available regarding protein–protein interactions (PPI), virus–host protein interactions, experimentally validated human miRNA-target pairs and transcriptional regulation of human miRNAs, it is possible to explore the complex regulatory network that exists between viral proteins and human miRNAs at the system level. Results: By integrating current data regarding the virus–human interactome and human miRNA-target pairs, the overlap between targets of viral proteins and human miRNAs was identified and found to represent topologically important proteins (e.g. hubs or bottlenecks) at the global center of the human PPI network. Viral proteins and human miRNAs were also found to significantly target human PPI pairs. Furthermore, an overlap analysis of virus targets and transcription factors (TFs) of human miRNAs revealed that viral proteins preferentially target human miRNA TFs, representing a new pattern of virus–host interactions. Potential feedback loops formed by viruses, human miRNAs and miRNA TFs were also identified, and these may be exploited by viruses resulting in greater virulence and more effective replication strategies. Beschreibung: Motivation: Glycosylation is a ubiquitous type of protein post-translational modification (PTM) in eukaryotic cells, which plays vital roles in various biological processes (BPs) such as cellular communication, ligand recognition and subcellular recognition. It is estimated that 〉50% of the entire human proteome is glycosylated. However, it is still a significant challenge to identify glycosylation sites, which requires expensive/laborious experimental research. Thus, bioinformatics approaches that can predict the glycan occupancy at specific sequons in protein sequences would be useful for understanding and utilizing this important PTM. Results: In this study, we present a novel bioinformatics tool called GlycoMine , which is a comprehensive tool for the systematic in silico identification of C-linked, N-linked, and O-linked glycosylation sites in the human proteome. GlycoMine was developed using the random forest algorithm and evaluated based on a well-prepared up-to-date benchmark dataset that encompasses all three types of glycosylation sites, which was curated from multiple public resources. Heterogeneous sequences and functional features were derived from various sources, and subjected to further two-step feature selection to characterize a condensed subset of optimal features that contributed most to the type-specific prediction of glycosylation sites. Five-fold cross-validation and independent tests show that this approach significantly improved the prediction performance compared with four existing prediction tools: NetNGlyc, NetOGlyc, EnsembleGly and GPP. We demonstrated that this tool could identify candidate glycosylation sites in case study proteins and applied it to identify many high-confidence glycosylation target proteins by screening the entire human proteome. Beschreibung: The Zoige Basin on the eastern Tibetan Plateau has the largest area of highland peatlands in China. However, the development history of these peatlands is still poorly understood. Understanding how these carbon-rich ecosystems responded to change in the Asian summer monsoons during the Holocene will provide insight into the peatland carbon accumulation processes under different climate boundary conditions. Here, we document the timing of initiation and expansion histories of these peatlands using 59 new basal peat ages across the Zoige Basin, with 29 ages for initiation analysis and 30 additional ages for lateral expansion analysis. Also, we synthesized basal ages from 26 sites and carbon accumulation records at four sites from previous studies in this region. The results show that the peatland initiation is widespread at 11.5–10 and 7–6 kyr (1 kyr = 1000 cal. yr BP) and the minimum initiation periods occurred after 5 kyr. Our multiple basal ages along eight transects show that slopes are a dominant control on peatland lateral expansion rates, with very slow and less variable rates at slopes 〉0.4°. Furthermore, we found a significant relationship between peatland basal ages and peat depths from 85 sites, suggesting relatively uniform peat properties. Carbon accumulation rates from detailed downcore analysis at four sites and on the basis of peat depth–basal age relationship show similar patterns with a peak carbon accumulation at 10–8 kyr. On the basis of estimated mean values of bulk density and carbon content from the region, the Holocene average C accumulation for the Zoige Basin is 31.1 g C/m 2 /yr. The widespread peatland initiation and rapid accumulation in the early Holocene were likely in response to higher temperature and stronger summer monsoon intensity, while the slowdown of peatland development during the late Holocene might have been caused by climate cooling and drying.

Beschreibung: Star hotels, as the core sector of China’s tourism development, the improvement of their economic efficiency is an important way for the tourism industry to operate well. On the other hand, improving eco-efficiency can promote star hotels to take more responsibility for the ecological environment and promote the sustainable development of tourism industry. In this paper, the A Slacks-Based Measure model (SBM), as one kind of data envelopment analysis, is used to construct the economic efficiency and eco efficiency input-output system of Chinese star hotels according to the development characteristics of star hotels in China. By collecting the data in 2014 and using the energy balance sheet to calculate the carbon emission, we further calculate the economic efficiency and eco-efficiency level of the star hotels in 30 provinces in China’s main land, and further analysis the input-output spatial pattern and development trend of the eco-economic system in China’s star hotels through...

Beschreibung: Noncoding RNAs can modulate gene expression by directing modifications to histones that alter chromatin structure. In fission yeast, siRNAs produced via the RNAi pathway direct modifications associated with heterochromatin formation. siRNAs associate with the RNAi effector protein Argonaute 1 (Ago1), targeting the Ago1-containing RNA-induced transcriptional silencing (RITS) complex to homologous...
