Description: Coal fires are a common and serious problem in most coal producing countries. Coal fires could not only lead to a huge loss of non-renewable energy resources, but it also can cause many environmental problems such as GHG emission, land subsidence and increment of surface temperature. So it is very important to monitor the dynamic changes of coal fires. As far as large scale coal field, remote sensing provided researchers with a new and useful technique for coal fire detection. This paper developed a research over coal fire spreading direction using a multi-temporal TIR remote sensing approach. The results successfully showed that the direction of coal fire spreading and predicted the coal fire direction of development on a regional scale or on a whole coal field scale, and a quantitative analysis of coal fires was made in the research. The results showed that the coal fires had an average annual increase of 0.5 million square meters from 1999 to 2006, and the TIR remote sensing ...

Description: The object of this paper is to numerically investigate the fluid-structure interaction of composite hydrofoil. The aim is to validate 3D numerical simulation model with fluid-structure interaction of composite materials comparing to experimental data, and study the fluid-structure interaction of composite hydrofoil. Numerical results are presented for a composite hydrofoil. The hydrofoil has unswept trapezoidal planform of aspect ratio 3.33. The numerical model has been validated and showed reasonable agreement with the experiment measurements. Then the forces and deformations of composite hydrofoil with different plying angles have been investigated at Re =1x10 6 and initial angle of attack α =6°. The results show that lift and drag coefficients and tip twist angle decrease and get minimum at about plying angle θ =35°. According to Classical Laminate Theory, the intrinsic bending-twisting coupling of composite structures leads to the variation of twi...

Description: Nitrogen and chlorine co-doped fluorescent carbon nanodots (CDs) were prepared using a facile and eco-friendly solvothermal process in which N-Chlorosuccinimide(NCS) was used as a carbon source. The resulting CDs were characterized by UV-visible absorption spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), Fourier transform infrared and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). It shows emission of blue light at 410 nm when excited at 340 nm. High quantum yield of 21.7% and good biocompatibility were also observed. Importantly, the fluorescence intensity of CDs was selectively quenched after addition of Ag + . Based upon the aforementioned phenomenon, a new fluorescent biosensor for the detection of Ag + was proposed. The linear range and detection limit was 5-70 μM and 1.06 μM, respectively. Eventually, these superior properties demonstrated that the CDs have promising applications in the field of environmental a...

Description: In this paper, adsorption effects and characteristics of heavy metal ions by poly-γ-glutamic acid (γ-PGA) and its two complexes (γ-PGA/Gelatin and γ-PGA/Fe 3 O 4 ) were studied. The adsorption capacity of Cu 2+ , Pb 2+ and Cd 2+ with initial concentration of 100 mg/L by unmodified γ-PGA is 1158 mg/g, 1129 mg/g and 301 mg/g, respectively. However, γ-PGA is easy to dissolve in water, which is not conducive to the treatment of heavy metal wastewater under flow state, neither to its reuse. The γ-PGA/Gelatin was prepared by crosslinking γ-PGA with gelatin to enhance γ-PGA’s mechanical strength and adsorption stability. Moreover, Fe 3 O 4 magnetic particles are also the ideal carrier of γ-PGA, which not only improves the strength performance of γ-PGA but also enhances the repetition rate of γ-PGA. The γ-PGA/Fe 3 O 4 magnetic particles were prepared by co-precipitation. The scanning electron microscopy...

Description: With the fast development of electric railway, harmonics and reactive power problems caused by electric locomotive load remains to be further improved. This paper presents a novel power quality conditioner based on multiple H-bridges with photovoltaic power. The proposed structure utilizes a hybrid cascaded 81-level converter in series with a PWM converter to achieve a high-voltage and large-capacity power quality conditioner, and photovoltaic power connects with the DC bus side of the hybrid cascaded 81-level converter to reduce active consumption for electric railway. The fundamental voltage of the hybrid cascaded 81-level converter is controlled by the traction network. The active component of the PWM converter output current is controlled by DC link voltage of the hybrid cascaded 81-level converter, and its reactive and harmonic components are controlled by reactive and harmonic currents from the load. The system structure, working principle and control method of the novel p...

Description: The purpose of this paper was to improve the safety equipment’s effectiveness through the comparison. Firstly, the history and safety accident of London Underground and Beijing Subway were shown. Secondly, fire equipment between these two cities was compared including station’s hardware installations and carriage’s hardware installations. Thirdly, the relative software installations were also compared such as emergency drills. The results showed that Beijing Subway’s hardware installations were better than London. However, London Underground’s some installations were more effective than Beijing. Both cities would pay more attention on anti-terrorist in tunnel.

Description: Compressed air foam system (CAFS) had obvious advantages in engineering. The flow model of compressed air foam in the pipeline was different from water flow model because the foam was the gas-liquid two phase flow with non-Newtonian fluid properties and compressibility, and, the water supply theory was not suitable for foam press pipeline transport. At present, there was little research on non-Newtonian fluid flow, especially the foam flow. This study researched the effect of foam flux, end valve and foam type on the press in the straight pipe and bend. The press drop in straight pipes and bends filled with compressed air foam was analyzed, and the result could provide experimental support for theoretical calculation of compressed air foam in bend.

Description: In order to explore the spatial distribution of photosynthetic characteristics of winter wheat leaf, the photosynthetic rate on different parts of leaf (leaf base-leaf middle-leaf apex) and that on each canopy (top layer-middle layer-bottom layer) leaf during the whole growth period of winter wheat were measured. The variation of photosynthetic rate with PAR and the spatial distribution of winter wheat leaf during the whole growth periods were analysed. The results showed that the photosynthetic rate of different parts of winter wheat increased with the increase of PAR, which was showed as leaf base〉leaf middle〉leaf apex. In the same growth period, photosynthetic rate in different parts of the tablet was showed as leaf middle〉leaf base〉leaf apex. For the different canopy layer of winter wheat, the photosynthetic rate of the top layer leaf was significantly greater than that of the middle layer and lower layer leaf. The photosynthetic rate of the top layer leaf was th...

Description: The streams has a certain amount hydro energy, can be used to generate electricity as a kind of clean energy, the use of streams and water to generate electricity has both realistic economic significance and important ecological and environmental protection. The purpose of this paper is to design one kind generation device which can be used in the low water head and rapid stream flow, according to water head and flow condition, the form of the generator was preliminarily designed, in order to realize the optimization of plant design and development, Numerical results showed that 8 degrees angle of outlet channel performed less loss; The shape type optimization design is carried out for generator room support column. After optimization, the performance improved greatly, and the power output increased from 13.9kW to 14.7 kW, and the efficiency increased from 73.5% to 78.3%.
