    Notes: Abstract Motion of the gas in supergranular convection will produce twisted flux tubes. A simple energy calculation shows that for a wide variety of assumptions a tube of field strength ∼ 100 G will be given about one twist and will have a diameter ∼ 1000–2000 km. This agrees with observations of magnetic fine-structure on the sun.
