Abstract— Two scalar parameters relating to stored energies are defined along an arbitrary cyclic loading path for an isotropic elastic-plastic continuum. The definitions of the parameters are introduced in the one-dimensional case. The tensorial generalization is developed firstly under the mechanical point of view and secondly focusing attention on the thermodynamical rates. The case of the usual cyclic traction test is studied in order to suggest an interest in the proposed parameters in the quasi-reversible range and in the subsequent transition range between reversibility and quasi-perfect plasticity.
