Notes: The definition and some general properties of the generalized Weyl correspondence between stochastic processes and operator-valued real functions on a Hilbert space plus a trace class operator are given. The relation between the derivatives of an operator-valued function and the derivative of the corresponding stochastic process are studied. When the operator-valued function is the position (or momentum) in the Heisenberg picture, a condition for the positivity of the joint distribution functions of the corresponding process is given, provided that the evolution Hamiltonian be quadratic in the position and momentum. Finally, the case of an arbitrary Hamiltonian evolution for the position operator is studied and the two-dimensional density functions of the process is related to the Wigner function associated to some state ρˆ, and a necessary condition for the positivity of the densities is given.

Notes: We here construct a rigged Hilbert space suitable for the description of the free radiation field in a box and in the Coulomb gauge. We prove the continuity of the main observables on this structure.

Notes: Stratonovich–Weyl kernels are constructed for some of the coadjoint orbits of the two-dimensional extended Galilean group G(2+1). As an intermediate step, the unitary irreducible representations associated with a given group orbit are obtained by using the Kirillov–Mackey theory. Star products are defined, in the sense of Moyal, for functions on each of these orbits. The central extension of G(2+1) with parameter k is also analyzed, which results from the commutator between the generators of boosts, to conclude that it originates a sort of nonrelativistic remainder of the Thomas precession.

Notes: Abstract We study the self-adjointness of the Liouvillianof a symmetric operator. We also discuss some cases ofthe spectrum of the Liouville operator of a self-adjointHamiltonian with purely continuous singular spectrum. The presence of an absolutelycontinuous part for the spectrum of Liouvillianscorresponding to Hamiltonians with purely continuoussingular spectrum shows that quantum theory in Hilbertand Liouville spaces is not equivalent.

Notes: Abstract We present a formulation of time reversal forquantum systems with resonances. This interpretationfollows with the idea that these systems areintrinsically irreversible. This formulation is made interms of rigged Hilbert spaces.

Notes: Abstract We prove that Gamow vectors are important toolsin the quantum theory of irreversibility. We use themathematical formalism of rigged Hilbert spaces. Wediscuss some spectral formulas that include Gamow vectors as well as some results concerningGamow vectors. The role of the time-reversal operator isstudied. The formalism can be applied to formulate asense of irreversibility in cosmology.

Notes: Abstract Gamow vectors are rigourously derived for a realistic case including an infinite number of resonant poles. This is the case of resonances produced by cut-off potentials. These are three-dimensional spherically symmetric potentials which vanish outside a bounded region. We solely consider the case of particles without internal structure and work with l = 0.

Notes: We study an example of a generalized Friedrichs model, in which a continuous-continuous coupling produces a pair of resonances as branch cuts of the analytic continuation of the reduced resolvent of the perturbed Hamiltonian to the second sheet of the Riemann surface associated to a transformation of the type w = z + α √z. To define the perturbation, we use the theory of self-adjoint extensions of symmetric operators proposed by the group of St. Petersburg. © 1996 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
