Notes: Summary The cellular distribution of 134Cs in the skeletal muscle of mice was investigated by histoautoradiography. A relatively high accumulation of 134Cs was found at the sarcolemma 4–6 hours after intraperitoneal application of 134CsCl. This permits the conclusion that Cs-ions are probably adsorbed by the sarcolemma before they are moved into the muscle cell. Within the cell 134Cs seems to be linked with myofibrils at destinct distances similar to those between isotropic and anisotropic bands.

Notes: Abstract Evidence for a male-produced aggregation pheromone inSitophilus granarius is reported. Hexane extracts of Tenax®-trapped volatiles from males held on wheat were attractive to both sexes in a multiple-choice olfactometer and pitfall bioassay chamber. A quantitative relationship existed between days of insect exposure on disks and degree of responsiveness. The maximum response was to 35 insect-day-equivalents. Diel-related activity showed both sexes responsive during photophase and nonresponsive during scotophase.

Notes: Summary Infection of pigs with Hyostrongylus rubidus increased the gastrointestinal loss of plasma proteins as was revealed by intravenously administered Cr-51-albumine. There was about 5 times as much leakage on day 25 p.i. in an animal infected with 1000 larvae/kg body weight, and about 3 times as much in an animal infected with 500 larvae/kg body weight than in an not infected control animal. In an animal which had been treated successfully with Cambendazole® (60 mg/kg body weight) on day 22 p.i. (1000 larvae/kg body weight) leakage almost returned to the normal level 3 days after treatment.
