Notes: Abstract Hypoxic preconditioning and pretreatment with pentoxifylline, α-tocopherol, or their combination promotes stabilization of Po2 in rabbit kidney cortex in the early reperfusion period (in experiments with α-tocopherol at a significantly lower level), while after 30-min reperfusion, the protective effect of α-tocopherol (especially in combination with pentoxifylline) markedly surpasses that of pentoxifylline and hypoxic preconditioning. α-Tocopherol sharply inhibits LPO in the reperfusion period, while pentoxifylline exhibits only weak antioxidant activity and hypoxic preconditioning was ineffective.

Notes: Abstract The combined effect of prolonged hypokinesia (30–49 days) and differences in the body position relative to the gravitational vector on the composition of the body was studied in healthy men. The total body water content depends more on the position of the body in space than on the restricted mobility. In the antiorthostatic position, the loss of water takes place chiefly during the first few days. As a result of prolonged hypokinesia the “lean mass of the body” is reduced and so also is its water content. The water content is rapidly restored when motor activity is resumed.
